Fitness

It's funny how often I get asked the following question: Chantel, is exercise really necessary?

My response is not usually what the person wants to hear, but it's the only one I have.

"Yes. If you want to maintain weight loss."

Lots of folks have told me stories of losing weight with very calorie restricted diets, or "no-carb", and so on...

However the truth is our bodies have been rigged for regular movement. Our arms and legs are designed to shift back and forth to propel us in a forward motion. To do this, we need calories for energy.

Most people want to take in the amount of calories as if they are moving non-stop, yet they don't want to do much moving. Therefore, they end up with a math problem. Too many calories taken in, too often without burning them off. These extra calories end up being stored in lots of familiar places...hips, thighs, arms, "behinds", you get the idea.

And all this is coming from the girl that couldn't finish walking a 20-minute mile back in High School, to now having ran 5 full marathons. That's 26.2 miles!

What I'm trying to say is fitness is for everyone!

As a certified personal trainer, and as a Spin instructor I am constantly coming up with new, fun work-outs to share.
